

Betty Clemmer Williams, age 84 of Charlotte went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2013 at her residence. A visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday evening at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2:00PM Friday at Chapman Memorial Baptist Church, Reverends Glenn Flowe, Brian Taule and Tony Harper officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born September 28, 1928 in Gaston County. She was a member of Chapman Memorial Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher 30 years for elementary children and served on the Baptismal Committee and was active in raising money to purchase a church van. She was Chaplain of Veterans Council and President of Gold Star Mothers and furnished transportation for the Veterans Parade. She was known for her beautiful prayers and often asked to pray at veterans ceremonies. Mrs. Williams was a volunteer worker for the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury and served food and played Bingo at American Legion Post 262 and served as president of the American Legion Auxillary at Post 262 and was department president of the American Legion Auxillary for the state of N. C.
She is survived by a daughter, Carla Williams Efird and husband, Derrick of Mint Hill, NC, son, Reggie Williams and wife, Robin of Charlotte, grandchildren, Adam, Matthew and wife Nikki, Ryan, Philip, and Joseph and six great grandchildren, and brother, David Clemmer and wife, Mae of Charlotte and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Lee and Eva Wilkie Clemmer, husband, Coyte Bailey Williams, and sisters, Gertie Wyatt, Helen Hansen, Selena Auten, Frances White, and Nora Wallace.
