

Family, friends and dreamers across the globe bid a heartfelt farewell to Dexter Royal Yager Sr’s wife and business partner, Birdie N. Yager, who joined our Lord and Savior in heaven, on December 24, 2023 at the age of 83.
She was born to Leonard and Jeanette Narehood on April 10, 1940, as one of sixteen children, in Rome, NY. Birdie married Dexter Yager in 1957 at the age of seventeen and were married for 61 years. Together they raised seven children and moved their family from Rome, New York to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1969.
Birdie is survived by their 7 children and spouses / partners; Dexter Jr. and Linda, Doyle and Holly, April and Michael, Lisa and Mark, Jeff and Rhonda, Leanne and Tim, Steven and Cecile, 27 Grandchildren, 15 spouses / partners, 30 Great Grandchildren, with 1 more on the way, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Birdie’s husband Dexter, Sr’s brother, Richard Yager and Birdie’s Siblings Louise Bowers and Larry Narehood.
Birdie, along with her husband, “Dex” fulfilled their life purpose as devoted Christians, parents, grandparents, business owners, entrepreneurs, authors and lovers of God, Country, Family & Freedom.
They shared their faith and free enterprise principles freely with anyone who would listen… And millions did.
Birdie’s husband Dexter started many businesses over the years, but their first and most successful was their own independent Amway Distributorship that they started together in 1964.
They were the first to achieve many of the highest achievement levels globally in the Amway business, and with three of their sons, developed the largest global footprint within the Amway business, which has spread across many countries.
The Yager name, philosophies, and methods became synonymous with success within the Direct-Selling, Multi-Level, Network Marketing industry.
A public Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday January 24, 2024 at Elevation Church - Riverwalk at 604 Celriver Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
