Blake Carter Beachum, 84, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 while under the care of the wonderful, compassionate staff of The Terrace at Brightmore, a memory care center in south Charlotte.
Born August 4, 1934 in Monroe, North Carolina, Blake was a daughter of the late Theron and Lura Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Blanche McManus; and two brothers, Earl Carter and Charles Carter.
She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Belk; her son, Eric Scott Beachum; her daughter, Carol Beachum Goodwin and her husband, Lee; her grandson, Christopher Lee Goodwin and his wife Erica; two great-grandsons, Hollis and Hudson Goodwin. She is also survived by a new great-grandson, Hughes, born to the family on February 18, 2019, two days after her passing.
Blake was married for 59 years to Fred Allen Beachum before his death in December of 2014. Blake was a caring homemaker who provided well for her family and treated everyone with respect. She had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The memorial service will be held at McEwen Funeral Home in Pineville, North Carolina on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Visitation immediately to follow. A private interment will be held on a later date.
