Bouavanh Sakdy was born on February 22, 1965 in Viengxay Village, Luang Prabang, Laos. She was the daughter of Thitpheng and Chansouk Sakdy. She had five brothers and two sisters. She attended Aphay Primary School, Santhiphab Secondary School, and Luang Prabang High School. She graduated from Luang Prabang Nursing School and went on to work in the Luang Prabang Province Hospital Operating room.
In 1989, Bouavanh immigrated to Washington state. In 1990, she moved to North Carolina. She is survived by her husband of thirty-six years, Phonexay Bourommavong; her two daughters, Monica Aphone and April Malavanh; and her siblings, Chansamone, Sompone, Chittaphone, and Tirath Sakdy. She passed away on May 1, 2026.
Visitation will be held at McEwen Funerals and Cremations at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC, on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
