Brandon William Laney

Born July 29, 1981 in Charlotte, he was the son of Edward and Deborah Laney. Brandon graduated from South Meck High School in 2002. He served as a Door Greeter at Dive-In in Pineville for over 10 years.

The joy of Brandon’s life was his family. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to country and gospel music, playing games on his iPad and cheering on his Carolina Panthers and his beloved Tarheels. He loved spending time with his best friend, John by going to concerts, attending baseball games and going to Taco Bell. He also enjoyed spending hours on the phone with his friend Anna Marie Carpenter. His caregiver of over 20 years, Winnie Turay, helped him make unforgettable memories and filled his life with pure joy and happiness. He earned the nickname “Slick Romeo” at the Harris YMCA in Charlotte, N.C.

He is survived by his mother and father, Edward and Deborah Laney, his brother, Timothy Laney (Ericka), his nephew, Hunter Laney, and his 2 nieces, Addison Laney and Savannah Farmer.

Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Service Inc., 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am, with the funeral starting at 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Dr, Matthews, NC 28104, on July 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
