Brenda Chavis Hunt, 71, of Mount Holly, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. Born on July 28, 1948, in Gastonia, NC, she was the daughter of the late Kissler Chavis and Fay Griffin Stanley. She was the loving wife of Franklin M. Hunt for 56 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debbie Hunt of Belmont, NC, and Kim Sowards (Anthony) of Mount Holly, NC; five grandchildren, Katie Ellis (Matt), Andrew Elliott (Dianna), Jessica Sowards, Matthew Sowards, and Kristy Stallworth (Kenon); six great grandchildren, Khloe, Kynleigh, Karoline, Ada, Serenity, and Malachi; two sisters, Becky George (Charles) of Pendergrass, GA, and Pat Hastedt; two brothers, Jack Chavis (Dale) of Matthews, NC, and Johnny Chavis of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews. Brenda retired from Parkdale Mills/U.S. Cotton after 29 years of service. She was a long-standing and faithful member of New Life Church of Jesus Christ. She was a woman of God, a prayer warrior, and a friend to many. She enjoyed shopping and reading. One of her greatest joys was spending time with, and spoiling, her grandchildren and great grandchildren who called her “Maw Maw.” Brenda was exceedingly proud of her family, and leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories. A private, family graveside service to celebrate Brenda and Franklin's life will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 1pm, at Forest Lawn Cemetery West, with Pastor Lawson Whitson officiating. The service will be available for viewing through live stream at www.facebook.com/ForestLawnWest so that all may attend in spirit.

My Dearest Brenda,
I will never forget your loving, giving heart to the homeless ministry that Darryl and I had at one time. The prayer warrior you were for so many always making sure to lift us up and encourage everyone to keep living for Jesus no matter what. Thank you for all the kind words you ever spoke to me about songs that I sung. Most of all you were definitely a precious Jewel far more precious than gold!!!! You will be missed so much! Until we see you again we will keep fighting the fight and keep the faith to be with you and Jesus in heaven!!!

Dear Debbie, Kim and family...
What a blessing I had in knowing and loving your Mother & Father. Their faith brought pleasures to HIS heart and everyone they touched. In these days of intense sadness, please remember our Father comforts us and, in time, He heals us.
You all are in our prayers, our thoughts and our hearts.

We could never find the words to say how much you have meant to us through the years. Only heaven will tell of all your love and sacrifice that you have given to so many. You and Bro Pee Wee will always have a special place with our family. You both always made us feel like family. Our loss is heavens gain so I’m not saying good bye but we will meet you again in a land where we will never know any tears or sorrow. Until then, go rest in Jesus. Forever your friends.
