Our family had to say goodbye to our soft spoken and loving youngest sibling, Brian Shaw. He was born in Charlotte, NC and grew up in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood. Brian was a graduate of Garinger High School. He was very athletic and played varsity football. His team was undefeated in his junior year. A fond memory of his was a cross country bicycle trip with Young Life. This meant a lot to him all of his life.
His early career experience began with a few years at Piedmont Airlines. He found his true calling as a carpenter and commercial sign maker. His work is still displayed throughout Charlotte. His signs for Bank America Stadium still stand. He built a barn by himself on The Farm.
Brian truly loved The Farm he lived on for 40 some years. There he could enjoy nature, his true home. He was very in tune with the energy of the natural world. This contributed to his success in raising and caring for horses and whippet dogs. His gardens always flourished. Our brother enjoyed many other hobbies and interests. He loved to camp, snow ski and fish at the Outer Banks with his good buddy, Scott Gillard. Besides being an athlete and a craftsman, he had a creative side. His photographs of the farm were beautiful and many. He had a creative eye.
Brian was preceded in death by his dad & mom, Preston & Gloria and his brothers, Joseph, Ronnie & Dennis, nephew, Jon Gutherie. Jerry Junior and Cousins Jerry Wierzbowski & Freddy Bukowski. Brian is survived by his large family of siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. And his dear friend, Anita Gersch. He is survived by his siblings, Caroline Shaw Ometz, Steve Shaw, Gary Shaw and Barbara Burnett and their families. His family meant a lot to him and all of us were fond of Brian. He will be truly missed.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 10:30am in Sharon Memorial Park.
