

Rena was born on March 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Oscar and Nellie Conner. She grew up in the Derita Community and attended Derita School. Rena worked for Chadburn Hosiery Mill and Southern Radio in Charlotte for 30 years. For the last 12 years she proudly worked for CMPD as a school crossing guard at Albemarle Elementary School. Rena was a member of Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church. Most Sundays she watched Dr. Woods from First Presbyterian Church. Rena loved her family and loved to have them over for very large meals that she continued to cook until her illness in November of 2009. She also loved her two grandcats, Magnolia Louise Brown and Iris Elizabeth Brown. Rena was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson W. Brown; sons, Victor Nelson Brown, Billy Wilson Brown; sisters, Edith Fincher, Estelle Rankin, Carol Newell and brother, Coolidge Conner.
Rena is survived by her son, Sonny Brown and his wife Glenda of Cornelius; grandsons, Erik Nelson Brown of Charlotte, Jeffrey Scott Brown of Memphis, TN; great-grandson, Tate Brown; sister, Jo Untz; brother, Oscar Martin Conner, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 1:15p.m., Tuesday, September 14 in Sharon Memorial Park with the Rev. Christina Carrasco officiating. The family will receive friends 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m., Tuesday at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte.
