Byron Charles Sykes

Mr. Sykes of Charlotte, NC, entered into eternal rest on August 20, 2010 in Salisbury Veterans Hospital. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial services at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service in Charlotte, NC, Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Pierce Sawyer officiating. Burial will be private.

Byron was born December 10th 1955 in Rome, NY and was the son of Charles Merrell Sykes and Virginia Long Sykes.

He is survived by his father Charles Merrell Sykes and step mother Suzanne of Aiken, SC, mother Virginia Long Sykes, daughter Victoria Leigh Sykes, nephew Jack Batson, brother Charles Merrell Sykes 11, granddaughter Cameron Black and the love of his life Sherry Sykes, all of Charlotte, NC, two nieces Pamela Peirick and Lila Beaty, aunt Carolyn Starek, uncle Richard Long, step brother Jeffery Wittig, three step sisters Mary Beth Seaha, Susan Wittig and Cynthia Tolley.

Byron loved his country and was proud to serve in the United States Air Force at home and abroad. His appetite for life was large, although he left us too soon. He meant so much to his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
