

Mrs. Johnston is survived by sons, Dr. Jeffrey Johnston (Peggy) of Boston, Clark Johnston (Joan) of Orlando, FL, and Allen Johnston (Debbie) of Mooresville, NC. Camille is also survived by her sister, Jeannine Newman of Charlotte; brother, Rob Newman of Naples, FL; and six grandchildren: Cate, Joe, Meredith, Scott, Thomas, and Grant. She was predeceased by her sister, Joanne Cowhig, in 2007.
She graduated from "Old Central" High School and Duke University, where she was President of Duke Players, and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church since 1931.
During World War II, Mrs. Johnston joined the American Red Cross in Washington, DC. Returning home, she became employed by Eastern Air Lines for six years, until leaving to stay at home with their sons. She returned to work at Central Piedmont Community College, and became Placement Director for 25 years, until retirement.
She enjoyed volunteer work in the community at Myers Park UMC, Shepherd Center, McCloud Center, the Mint Museum, Junior League, the Charlotte History Museum, and at Aldersgate.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5th in the Chapel of Harry and Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, with Reverend Karen Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
