In 1944, Mr. Stinson married the love of his life, Frances Counts. He then served in the US Army during WW II. After the war he and Frances made their home in Charlotte where they raised their three children. Carl better known as “Pop” drove the city bus, and then worked for the US Post Office as a letter carrier where he retired in 1980. He also enjoyed scuba diving ,and playing the harmonica for his family. Pop was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Stinson was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Clifford, Harold, Bruce, Paul and son in law David Barbery. He is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate of 74 years, Frances Counts Stinson, his three children Fred Stinson and wife Rickie, JoAnn Barbery , Ronnie Stinson and wife Donna. He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Sally M. Hagler who cared for and loved him as if he were her dad. The family would also like to thank Visiting Angels for their care and compassion during his last days at home.
The funeral is scheduled for Monday, January 21,2019 at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte, NC. Visitation is from 12pm - 1pm, with service to follow. Burial will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.
