Carolyn Mullinax Capps

Carolyn M. Capps, 83, of Albemarle, formerly of Charlotte, went home to be with Jesus on February 4, 2026. Carolyn was the wife of James Wade Capps, Sr. for 65 years. Now reunited together in Heaven, Carolyn passed 6 days prior to James.

Carolyn was a native of Cherokee County, SC and the daughter of the late Monroe and Mary Moore Mullinax of Blacksburg, SC. She worked and retired from Huttig Sash & Door Co. Charlotte, NC. Carolyn loved to travel, listen to music, sing, dance, and was an avid reader. She loved to spend time with family and her grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her children: Rhonda Strickland of Albemarle, NC; James W. Capps, Jr. of Gaffney, SC and Patricia Morgan of Albemarle, NC; Mark Capps of Chester, SC and Ronnie Capps of Kingstree, SC; Sisters Sheila Beverly of Ridgeway, SC, Robin Farr of Jonesville, SC, and many loved grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers; Gene Mullinax, Joe Mullinax, Johnny Mullinax, and J.R. Mullinax; Sisters Goldie Wray and Judy Ross.

A joint grave side service with husband James W. Capps, Sr. will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Services will be held at Berry Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 9801 Walkers Ferry Rd., Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 12:30-1:30 pm at McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West,4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC, 28208.
