Carolyn was born December 7, 1931 in Charlotte to the late Mr. and Mrs. James (Elsie) McLauchlin. She was a 1950 graduate of Central High School. As a member of Kilgo United Methodist Church since 1951, Carolyn was very active serving as Lay Leader, Choir Member and Sunday School teacher for the Biggers Class.
Mrs. Hancock was a loving wife having been married to Kenneth Maurice Hancock for 47 years until his death in 1999. She was a loving mother to her four children and loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was known for her love for Jesus, her sweet spirit and temperament, and her love of people.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcia (Daniel) Robbins of Macon, GA; three sons, Keith (Susanne)Hancock of Lincolnton, NC; Barry (Anna) Hancock of Gastonia, NC and Brian (Gina) Hancock of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren Angela (Glen) Kitchen and their son Cole, Danielle (Steve) O'Neill; Grace (Chris) Rocker and their son Luke; Eric Robbins; Ian Hancock; Megan (Joshua) Mull; Amber Hancock; Michael Hancock; sister Elsie Covington of Ellerbe, NC; brothers James (Ann) McLauchlin of Tampa, FL and Ronald McLauchlin of Waxhaw, NC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Helen Culbertson, Marian Hill and Linda McLauchlin.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 1pm at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service. Burial will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.
