

Carolyn Young Hilton, age 70, was born March 15, 1955. She entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2025 in Charlotte, NC after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded at her home by her loving family.
Carolyn was born in Hamlet, NC to her mother, Sarah Vanhorn. She is survived by her loving family; Gene (husband), Preston Hilton (son), Danielle Hilton (daughter-in-law), Jordan Hilton (son), Cassie Hilton (daughter-in-law), and Dorian Hilton (daughter); grandchildren – Finleigh Rose, Conrad, Preston Jr, and London Brooks, mother, Sarah Vanhorn, and siblings; Maxine McAlhany, Dean Jordan, Otis Young, Vickie Young, Teresa Young, and Ricky Young, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Carolyn grew up in Rock Hill, SC graduating from Rock Hill High School and proceeded to attend Central Piedmont Community College in their Nursing Program. She followed graduation by attending Charlotte Memorial Hospital’s Nurse Anesthesia school earning a degree as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Carolyn began her career with Charlotte Memorial and continued her career with various other hospitals for the next 35 years serving in the medical community.
Carolyn was married to Gene Hilton for 48 years sharing their lives together in Charlotte, NC with a move to Richmond, VA for 10 years and then back to Charlotte. They raised a beautiful family together which now includes two sons, a daughter, two loving daughters-in-law, and four beautiful grandchildren.
Carolyn’s family and friends would describe her as a lovely, stylish,and classy lady who cared deeply for others and brought a spirt that radiated kindness, comfort, and joy to others. She loved being able to share life with her family and friends through lunches, events and activities, or just spending quite time together. Her life was filled with giving to others through volunteering, sharing life with friends, and loving on her family. She loved to attend her women’s Bible study classes and learn as much as she could about her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Carolyn was a long-time member of the Calvary Church family. Her memorial service will be held Friday July 11, 2025 at 12:00pm in the main sanctuary of Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road Charlotte, NC 28226. A visitation with family and friends will be held prior to the service at 11:00am in Calvary’s Rea Room.
