Carolyn Wood Sparks

Carolyn Wood Sparks, 79 of Charlotte went home to be with the Lord July 20, 2013. A service to celebrate her life will be at 2:00PM Tuesday, July 30th at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 9000 Mt. Holly Road, Pastor Jon Hall and Dr. David A. Irish officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00PM at the church for the family only prior to the service and receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Interment will be private for the family. Mrs. Sparks was born February 25, 1934 in Watauga County, NC, was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, graduated as Valedictorian at Watauga High School in Boone, and had served as a Supervisor and Dispatcher for the Charlotte Police Department, Medic, and Charlotte City Fire Department before retiring. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Bower and Tina Cook Wood and a sister, Beth Carlson of Charlotte.
