CT was born September 7, 1941 to Olive and FTB “Freddie” Harris in Salisbury, Maryland. He was preceded in death by them.
He is a graduate of Shelby High School, Carson-Newman College, and Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. He graduated from Bowman Grey School of Medicine with a PA degree in 1976, and worked in Reidsville, NC as a PA. Later he obtained his MLS from UNC-G and worked as an Assistant
Librarian at Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. In 1992 he became librarian at Wingate University where he retired 2005.
CT served numerous churches in Kentucky, Maryland, and North Carolina as Minister of Music and Youth, and/or Education. He was a lover of music and enjoyed playing several instruments including piano, organ, guitar, and oboe. He sang in the NC Singing Churchman, conducted Handel, Messiah for several years in Reidsville, NC, and he was an active composer/arranger for many songs and special services for his choirs over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Jane of 54 years; one son, William (Chrissy) and 3 grandsons, Ben, Dan, and Joe; one sister, Anita (Don) Taft.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM, August 11, at Plantation Estates Performing Arts Center located at 606 Birch View Drive, Matthews, NC 28105.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Plantation Estates, Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church at 1117 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC and First Baptist Matthews Music Ministries at 185 S. Trade Street Matthews, NC.
The family is grateful for each doctor and nurse in Willow Brooke, Plantation Estates who cared so lovingly for him.
