
CHARLOTTE - Carter Stevens Terrell, 81, of Weddington, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. He was born February 25, 1934 in Decatur, GA to the late William Stevens Terrell and Frances Easterlin Terrell.
Mr. Terrell moved to Charlotte in 1938. He graduated from Central High School in 1952 with honors. He was president of his senior class, a member of the National Honor Society, and a member of the golf team for three years. Mr. Terrell graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1956. He was awarded an NROTC scholarship, was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and president of the Wesley Foundation. Mr. Terrell retired in 1959 from the U.S. Navy with the rank of Lieutenant.
He was co-owner of Computrol, Inc. Mr. Terrell was president of the Sertoma Club, a member of Charlotte Country Club, Milledgeville Country Club, and the Country Club of North Carolina. His church affiliations were with the Unity of Charlotte; the Unitarian Church of Charlotte; St. Stephens Episcopal Church; and Myers Park United Methodist Church. He was a board member; president; Sr. Warden on the Vestry; and a delegate to the Diocesan Convention in Milledgeville, GA. His hobbies were reading, writing, traveling, golf and snow skiing. Mr. Terrell was most proud of working with others on spiritual interests (ie, workshop on the Road Less Traveled).
Mr. Terrell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kitty Powell Terrell; daughter, Francine Stevens Terrell; and granddaughter, Sara Katherine Christ. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Williams Terrell
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 5, in the Chapel of Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service.
