Cary Louis Krueger passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday surrounded by family. Cary, a longtime resident of Charlotte, was known for his expressive language as well as his generosity with family and friends. He had a huge heart and would stop at nothing to help anyone in need. Unfortunately, his heart was no longer able to keep up with Cary.
Local merchants, like Harris Teeter, will be missing their most loyal customer and couponer. Cary was known for his extensive collections of Beanie Babies, lawnmowers, and just about anything else you can imagine.
The Southwest Charlotte varmint population will no doubt be breathing a sigh of relief as Cary was their most fierce adversary, single-handedly controlling their overpopulation.
He was loved by all who knew him. He went by many names; Cary, Dad, Granddad, Papa Bear, Papa K, and a favorite (from Muriel), “the love of my life.”
Cary was born in Charlotte to Fred C. Krueger and Ellen B. Krueger. In 1960, he graduated from Garinger High School and later attended NC State University. Cary had a long career with MIC and General Motors; and was a car enthusiast who had at least four cars in his driveway at all times.
Cary is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ellen Krueger; his twin brother Gary Krueger; and his former wives, Sue Krueger and Jane Krueger.
Cary is survived by his loving partner, Muriel Harris; a son, Cary Krueger, Jr. and his wife, Holly Krueger of Raleigh; a son, Kurt Krueger and his wife, Stephanie Krueger, also of Raleigh; a daughter, Beth Conner and her husband, Garrett Conner of Cumming, GA; and grandchildren: Taylor, Cody, Benjamin, Trey, Emily, Jordan, Katie, and Henry. Cary was a father not just to his children, but to others, including Jack Sanders. Cary is also survived by many loving family members.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, at McEwen - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road Charlotte, NC. A visitation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association at heart.org or St. Judes at stjudes.org.
