Her early years were spent in Syracuse and Cazenovia NY. She graduated from Penn Hall School in 1959. After graduating from Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1960, she married her high school sweetheart Dana Barnes, and began raising a family. Caryl is survived by her husband Dana “Tunk” Barnes, daughter Doree Barnes of Indian Land SC, and two sons; Gregory and Douglas and six grandchildren, all of Charlotte NC.
Caryl was always a seeker and sharer of the Lord. The family moved to Kimesville, NC in 1977 where she taught Sunday school for several years at Mt. Pleasant UMC. Caryl raised her children with steady faith in Jesus through sound biblical principles. She moved to Sun City Carolina Lake in Indian Land South Carolina in 2007.
Caryl battled type two diabetes for many years but she never complained and was always diligent in managing the disease. During her final days she joyfully anticipated her upcoming reunion with the Lord.
It was Caryl’s wish not to have a funeral service, but that her family and friends remember her with Love.
