

She was born August 6, 1927 in Richwood, WV. She was the daughter of Rosario Zangari and Mary Cartino Zangari. She graduated from Richwood High School and moved to Charleston, WV. She had many careers in her lifetime, her favorite being an original "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. She took pride in doing her part for the war effort by working as a riveter in a torpedo plant. Her favorite career was that of a pharmacy technician for 17 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in South Charleston, WV. She was devoted to her church and her beautiful voice could be heard in the church choir. Upon her move to Charlotte, NC she became a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Catherine was very devoted to her faith and the teachings of the Bible.
The joy of her life was her family and friends. She was a faithful and loving wife to her husband CD, of 35 years, until his death in 1985. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. Catherine will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, and kindness. She loved large gatherings with family and friends. Everyone was made to feel welcome and a part of her family.
She is survived by her five children; Jack (Sue Ellen), Mary (Jon), George, Clare, and Barbara (Paul); seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband CD, her parents Rosario and Mary and her four siblings; Teresa, Joe Carmella, and Ralph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Parkway, Charlotte, NC.
A reception will be held at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210, immediately after the service.
