Cathie Dell’Aquila McCrory was born in Queens, New York on April 17, 1951, the daughter of Michael (Red) and Vincenza (Winnie) Dell’Aquila, and the younger sister of Carl. She is survived by her mother, Vincenza (Winnie); brother, Carl; husband, Dennis; and son, Kyle Andrew. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael and son, Matthew Jordan. She passed away on June 16, 2019 in Charlotte, North Carolina at the age of 68.
Cathie grew up in the hamlet of Franklin Square. She graduated from H. Frank Carey High school and Adelphi University on Long Island in New York. During her early career in the banking industry, she lived in Manhattan and worked on Wall Street. Cathie was married to Dennis in 1988 in New York City and promptly moved to be with Dennis in the farming community of Watsonville, California. After a year in Watsonville the couple moved east, stayed with her parents in Seneca, South Carolina for a couple months, and settled in Charlotte late in 1989. Son Kyle Andrew was born in 1991 and son Matthew Jordan was born in 1994. While the children were small Cathie combined hobby and talent in a home based business making custom window treatments. Eventually she rejoined the work force as a financial assistant in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. She had retired recently and was certainly enjoying those freedoms.
Cathie was a dedicated public servant. She was honest, intelligent, diligent, organized, and very friendly. Those who worked with her marveled at her ability to get things done providing support to both school and staff. Cathie was also a dedicated fan of the New York Rangers and the New York Yankees. She dearly loved to go to a Rangers hockey game in person. Normally to PNC arena in Raleigh, but occasionally to Madison Square Garden in New York.
Cathie will be sorely missed by her loving family and her many friends.
