It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Cathy Hudson, who left us peacefully on September 12, 2025 at the age of 76.
Born on March 30, 1949, to the late Julius Eugene Hodge and Eulalia Katherine Hodge, Cathy was a woman whose life was defined by love, dedication, and quiet strength. She built a beautiful life alongside her devoted husband and best friend of 55 years, Danny Hudson, and together they raised three sons, who were the pride and joy of her life: Robby Hudson (fiancée Roxanne Cooper), Bryan Hudson (spouse Stephanie Hudson), and Kevin Hudson (spouse Alicia Hudson).
Family was everything to her. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and her beloved grandchildren: Ann Michael Maye (spouse Drake Maye), Reese Hudson, Tad Hudson, Kendal Hudson, Khaki Hudson, Emily Hudson, Hadley Hudson, and Abby Hudson. She cherished every moment, especially during holiday gatherings and the family's treasured annual beach trips, which were the highlight of her year.
She came from a large and loving family of eight siblings. She was preceded in death by Julia Dixon, John Hodge, Nona McDonald, and Darrell Hodge. She is survived by her brothers, Jay Hodge, Alan Hodge, and Randy Hodge. Cathy loved her many nieces, nephews and best friends.
Cathy enjoyed a fulfilling and successful career with the State of North Carolina. She spent 10 years at West Mecklenburg High School and another 10 years with the Department of Motor Vehicles before retiring in 2011. Her work ethic, kindness, and integrity left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
She was devoted to her family and lifelong friends, known for her kind spirit and the way she made everyone feel at home. She gave freely, loved deeply, and lived fully. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The Hudson Family will greet friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, the 21st of September, 2025 at McEwen Funeral & Cremation Service at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 PM in the Chapel and burial will follow in the family plot at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
