Chad was predeceased by his parents Chadwick Perrin Smith and Sadie Lawing Smith. He is survived by his wife Linda and their precious pups Bailey and Mollie of the home, his daughter Catherine, and several cousins.
He graduated from Charlotte Country Day School and then received his undergraduate and Masters of Science degrees from the Georgia Tech School of Textiles. Chad spent his career working in the textile dyes and chemicals industry.
A generous person, Chad and Linda helped to rescue many dogs through animal rescue groups and from the sides of roads. Chad also enjoyed volunteering at the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, where he helped prepare and serve meals for the residents. He also regularly donated blood to the Red Cross.
Chad was a true friend, with many of his friendships lasting through most of his adult life. If you needed something, he was always happy and willing to help out.
Always a sports enthusiast, he played several sports in high school and pitched for the Georgia Tech freshman baseball team. An avid runner, he twice completed marathons in under four hours. He also had keen knowledge of history.
