

Charles Allen Chidester, 87, of Dallas formerly of Charlotte, passed away April 12, 2026 surrounded by his family. Born in Dobson, NC, he was the son of the late Russell David and Mildred Frances (Draughn) Chidester. He married Nancy Cowart on May 15, 1959 in Charlotte, NC.
A U.S. Marine and Army Veteran, Charles served his country for 21 years, faithfully. After the military, Charles pursued his passion of auto body repair which he did for more than 35 years. Later he attended Christ for the Nations Seminary School and became an evangelist for the Lord's Gospel.
An avid camper, Charles enjoyed traveling to local mountains, watching football, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Nancy C. Chidester; children, Nathan (Lisa) Chidester, Terri (Mike) Adcock, Brian (Diana) Chidester and Aaron (Michelle Hendrix) Chidester; grandchildren, Matthew (Emily) Chidester, Shane (Laura) Adcock, Chris (Morgan) Adcock, Patrick (Isabel) Adcock, Brianna Chidester, LillyAnn Chidester, Jessie Hendrix, Katie Hendrix and Kiana Sipe; great-grandchildren, Palmer Chidester and Addie Adcock along with two future additions, Lydia Adcock and Aurelia Chidester; two sisters, Jere Chidester and Hilda Poole; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, William Edward Chidester and Milton Lee Chidester.
A celebration of Charles' life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of McEwen Funerals & Cremations at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Visitation will be an hour before, at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery with military honors. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com
