Charles L. Gallman, Sr., of Charlotte, NC, died December 8, 2012, after a brave battle with Lewy Body Dementia, at the age of 91. Our sadness at the death of our father and husband is tempered by our extreme joy in the knowledge that he is with his Lord and Savior. Charlie honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Storekeeper. In addition to his parents and three brothers, he is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Meredith Ellen Potts and Michael Gregg Sutton. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 71 years, Margaret Patterson Gallman of Charlotte. They knew each other for three weeks and eloped to York, SC, in 1941. His children are Jo Ellen Potts, wife of Richard, Vicki King, wife of Jay, Susan Wheatley, wife of Sam, Margaret Charlene Quenneville, wife of Don, and Charles L. Gallman, Jr., husband of Mason. Also mourning his passing are his nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and nine step-grandchildren. Charlie was an unforgettable individual due to his unflagging enthusiasm for life and his positive outlook in every situation. He was the consummate salesman and never met a stranger. He loved to tell jokes and advise everyone of what they needed to do. Daddy loved his family unconditionally and believed In their potential to succeed. He was so good at loving his children that each one of them claims to be his favorite! He had a knack for making everyone he knew feel they were special and that they mattered. Daddy's death will leave a void in our lives but we are grateful for all the time we had with him. Funeral arrangements are being handled by McEwen Funeral Home, Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC. Visitation and a celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, December 12 at 11:00 AM, in the sanctuary at Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd. In lieu of flowers, our family suggests donations could be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W.
