

Dean married Betty Hargett Lynch February 13, 1948. They were married 66 wonderful years. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family, golf, working crossword puzzles, walking his dogs, music, photography, collecting antique golf clubs and clothes shopping.
Dean was a member of Carmel Country Club for over 40 years. After retirement, he could be seen almost every day at the driving range, practice green, giving informal lessons to friends or playing a round. He was also a member the Masonic Temple, Lodge 676 in Charlotte for over 50 years.
Dean served in the Navy as a radio operator on the USS Auburn during World War II. His ship coordinated and directed the movements of several hundred ships attached to Amphibious Group 2 at Iwo Jima where he witnessed the raising of the flag.
During his career he worked as Credit Manager for Edgcomb Metals for nearly 28 years. Previously, he worked as a Salesman for RKO Radio Pictures.
Mr. Lynch is survived by his daughter, Susan Lynch Huston, son-in-law, Kenn Huston and infant granddaughters, Arrie Elizabeth and Kensley May Huston of Charlotte; nephew, Roy Lynch and his wife Kay Lynch of Charlotte, nephew, Billy Lynch of Charlotte, niece, Hilda Proctor of Spindale, sister-in-law, Virginia Todd Hargett of Greenville, SC; nephew, Mark Hargett, his wife Cindy Hargett, and great-nephew, Brett Hargett all of Greenville, SC.
Dean is preceded in death by his wife Betty Hargett Lynch; his parents, Veranda Graham and Arrie Belle Smith Lynch; his brothers, Milford, Robert, Roy, Lester, and Bill Lynch; his sisters, Edna Lynch, Lillie Neal, Iva Carver, Pauline Smith, Bertha Lynch and Mary Lynch; his nephew, Coy Smith; and his brother-in-law, Karl Eugene Hargett.
The committal service with military rites will take place on Friday, September 12 at 11:00 am in the Mausoleum Chapel of Sharon Memorial Park with Reverend Kyle Thompson, Senior Pastor of Sharon United Methodist Church, officiating.
