Charles (“Chuck”) Alton McNairy, 58, of Charlotte, North Carolina, died on September 4th, 2017 in East Charlotte. He was born February 24th, 1959 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to Patricia Barfield and John Adams McNairy, Sr.
Chuck worked in construction as a wallpaper specialist and construction supervisor. He was often self-employed, and when he was younger, toured with a band throughout the east coast as a sound technician. He was instrumental in the start of the disc golf community in Charlotte, and was an avid player until his death. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his daddy, Walter, playing golf with family and friends, and spending his time in the mountains. He was a fan of the Carolina Panthers, rooted for Dale Earnhardt in NASCAR until Earnhardt’s death, and later cheered for Jimmy Johnson. He was a skilled guitar player, writing and singing songs such as “Just a Little”, and often performing with his brother Richard.
The family will hold a service on Saturday, September 9th, at 2 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Services at Sharon Memorial Park, located at 5716 Monroe Rd. Charlotte, NC 28212.
Mr. McNairy is survived by his mother Patricia Barfield Bottoms; his brother and sisters, Elizabeth Darden McNairy (Beth), Robert Kelly Bottoms (Kelly) and wife Monica Bottoms, Terry West White and husband Walter White; and many adoring nieces and nephews, who, as children, when they could not pronounce his name, would call him “Uncle Duck”.
He is preceded in death by his daddy, Walter Morris Bottoms, Jr., his father, John Adams McNairy, Sr., and his brothers, John Adams McNairy, Jr., Kevin Morris Bottoms, and Richard Franklin McNairy.
He was a dedicated uncle, a beloved brother, and a cherished son. We expect that he and Richard will be performing together in Heaven. He will be sorely missed.
