Charlie Marshall came to Charlotte in 1957 to help start Ridgeview Baptist Church with Charles Foushee. In 1960, he became the music and children’s director for Northside Baptist Church under Dr. W. Jack Hudson. In 1975, he and his family traveled pulling the infamous “Mini Church” behind them. They held evangelistic children’s crusades all over the country. The children’s favorites were “Billy the Bashful Bull” and “Spunky the Monkey.”
He began preaching prophecy conferences about the end times after the death of his first wife, Daisy, in 1986. He married his second wife, Judith, in 1988, and together they ministered and were a help to many churches.
Even though he was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and had difficulty speaking without being short of breath, he asked the Lord to allow him to simply preach. He was able to continue preaching in churches until December 2019.
Throughout his more than 60 years of ministry, God used him to see many children, men, and women trust Christ as their Savior. He was always faithful in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ even while bedridden. Many times when asked about his health, he would reply, “I’m still breathing, and I’m never going to stop.” Praise God, he’s still breathing in the presence of Jesus!
His life verse was Matthew 6:33 which says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” He lived by the motto, “Yes, Lord!” which meant he was willing to do whatever the Lord wanted him to do.
