She was born to the late Edmond S. Hough and Hattie E. Wright on July 20, 1924 in Lilesville N.C. Charlotte graduated from Wadesboro High School in 1943 and moved with her family to the Charlotte area where she met and married her husband of 67 years, Jack C. Johnston. She was a dedicated mother of three - two sons and a daughter. Her oldest son, Jack Johnston, Jr. died serving his country in Vietnam. She is survived by her husband, daughter Janet Peffer, son David Johnston, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sisters Julia (Davis), Edna (Learner), and Rosa (Smith).
Memorial services for Charlotte will be held at McEwen Funeral Home, 5716 Monroe Rd., on Sunday, January 24th. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm with funeral services at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Harris Hospice at Presbyterian Medical Center by calling 704-384-4084.
