

Charlotte Brown Stalvey died peacefully after a short illness on October 31, 2016. Born on July 16, 1924 in Charlotte, N.C., to Norman William and Fanny Alice Brown, Charlotte is survived by her younger sister Betty Jeanne Gray, daughter-in-law Tina Stalvey, grandchildren Sam and Annie Margaret Stalvey, and nephews and nieces including Woodrow McClure, Jr. (Linda), Danny McClure (Jan), Debra Lechner, Paula Lechner, William Gray (Rachael), Robin Gray Mullis (Randy), Craig Morgan (Karen Gray (dec.)), and Alison Gray. Charlotte was a devoted wife to Ralph Stalvey and loving mother to Scott Stalvey, both of whom preceded her in death. After many years as a homemaker, she began a career at Duke Energy, from which she retired. One of Charlotte’s favorite places was Lake Wylie, where she had a second home and often entertained her extended family (seven siblings) and friends. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Plantation Estates, Matthews, N.C. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, November 4, 2016 at Sharon Memorial Park with a reception following at McEwen Funeral Services, Charlotte, N.C. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Tryon St, Charlotte, N.C. 28202, where she was a life-time member.
