Charlotte and her husband, Gary, who preceded her, were married for 54 years before his passing in 2023. Charlotte is survived by her children, Gary Steele Jr. and his wife, Laura Steele, of Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter Jennifer Steele Thoms and her husband, Jeff Thoms, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, son Brandt Webster Steele and his wife, Kara Steele, of Pageland, South Carolina. Gary and Charlotte were blessed with eight grandchildren, Haley, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Luke, Gabriel, Dane, James, and Hannah. In addition, Gary and Charlotte had three great-grandchildren, Knox, Brody, and Scottie. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Mason, and her mother, Virginia Mason.
Charlotte was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a fact she took great pride in. As a young woman, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she met the love of her life Gary. Gary and Charlotte founded and built Advanced Residuals Management, an ongoing concern now owned and run by their son, Brandt. Gary and Charlotte considered Sunset Beach, North Carolina home, where they built a strong network of friends and a passion for their local church. A testament to their love of family, Charlotte and Gary maintained a second home in Waxhaw to be close to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
If you had the pleasure of meeting Charlotte, you wouldn’t walk away without hearing what Jesus had done in her life. She never met a stranger and shared the story of God’s grace, mercy, redemption, and love with everyone she met. Charlotte had an outsized influence on her entire family, coming to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. She will be missed greatly, but her family is comforted and excited to know that she has arrived safely in the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and has been reunited with Gary.
A visitation for Charlotte will be held Friday, February 21, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210, and the funeral will begin at 1 p.m.
Graveside services will be private.
