Cheryl Robin Schuler

Cheryl Robin Schuler, age 60, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026 in Charlotte, North Carolina, following a 2.5 year courageous battle with Glioblastoma. She was born on October 7, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York to Jerry and Fran Schuler, and after spending several years of her adult life in New York, she moved to Charlotte in 1997 to raise her family.

Cheryl was known for being remarkably strong, hilarious, quick-witted, street smart, and endlessly thoughtful. She was an absolute rock for her children. She was the first person they called when they needed advice and always stood loud and proud in the front row at every sports game, play, and school event. Her love for her children was endless.

To know Cheryl was to be cared for and protected by Cheryl. She was a “mama bear” in every sense of the word, not just for her own children but for everyone she surrounded herself with. During her time working at the Providence Day School store, she became friends with all of the parents and teachers and “second moms” to several of the students. People came to her for advice on parenting, getting into college, relationship problems, and the list goes on. Cheryl would move mountains for those in her circle.

Cheryl never liked to be the center of attention, and she always poured all of her energy into others. Even when she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, her first thought was how this would impact her children and friends. She chose to spend her days when she was feeling well building lasting memories for her children and friends to hold onto. This included writing songs to show her support circle her gratitude, taking her children to Build-a-Bear workshop to make teddy bears, recording herself reading children’s books for her future grandchildren, and buying souvenirs for her children to remember her by. Cheryl liked to help and never liked to ask for help, but when she truly needed it as she faced a difficult battle with cancer, the army of people Cheryl helped over the years truly stepped up to carry her through.

When she wasn’t helping others, Cheryl enjoyed spending her time playing mahjong and board games, walking with her friends, playing pickleball, and watching binge-worthy reality TV shows. She was extremely organized and seemed to know something about everything. You could always count on Cheryl to maximize airline miles, find the best price on her purchases, navigate a complex spreadsheet, or network her way into trying new restaurants before they opened. There was absolutely nothing Cheryl couldn’t do.

Cheryl is survived by her children, Jenna (31), Alex (29), and Jake (27), her mother Fran Schuler, her brother Gary Schuler, and her sister-in-law Stacey Schuler. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Schuler.

A service to celebrate Cheryl's life will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 3:30PM at The Hebrew Cemetery of Greater Charlotte (1801 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28206). At Cheryl’s request, we are unable to offer a livestream for the service, but we deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers from afar.

Guests are encouraged to wear gray sweatpants (Cheryl’s go-to outfit!). Please come dressed casually and comfortably; no formal attire.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cheryl’s memory to the music therapy program at Levine Cancer Institute (LCI). Through this program, Cheryl had a beautiful outlet to share her story, process her feelings, and create meaningful legacy books and music that will live on as treasured gifts for her friends and family. Cheryl wants to ensure that this program has the resources to touch lives and bring this comfort to other families the same way it did to her.
