Cheryl Lorraine Summerville

Cheryl graduated from Myers Park High School in 1966. Following graduation, she devoted herself to raising her two daughters, Shannon and Dawn. She was an excellent and deeply devoted mother who remained a constant, loving presence throughout her daughters’ lives. Her family was at the heart of who she was, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Cheryl had a genuine love for her community and a special place in her heart for children. She worked as a bus driver with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System and treated the children she worked with like family. Her kindness, patience, and caring spirit made a lasting impression on the many children she encountered.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Cheryl was a member of West Cabarrus Church in Concord, North Carolina. She lived her faith through her actions, generously giving her time and compassion to others. She regularly volunteered with Shoes of Hope Ministry and found great joy in serving those around her. Volunteering was not simply something Cheryl did; it was a reflection of the generous heart she carried throughout her life.

In her spare time, Cheryl enjoyed playing Keno, Bingo, board games, and card games. She especially treasured time spent with her church family and friends.

Cheryl will be remembered most for her kind heart, generosity, and nonjudgmental nature. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and accepted. Wherever she went, she made a friend, and the warmth she shared with others will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Cheryl leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and friendship. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Shannon, Dawn and granddaughter Taylor family, her church family, her many friends, and all the lives she has touched throughout her years.

Though she is no longer with us, the kindness she gave so freely and the love she shared so generously will continue to live on in those who knew her.

Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Shannon Summerville and Dawn Summerville; granddaughter, Taylor Le, her husband Jame Le; great grandchildren, Jaxon Le and Tatum P Le, her sister Dianne Whittle and brother-in-law Richard Whittle and several nieces and nephews.

Shannon, Dawn and Taylor would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Cheryl’s niece, Linda Esposito. Linda provided exceptional care and devotion, ensuring that Cheryl’s final moments were filled with love, comfort, dignity, and peace. Her compassion and presence during this precious time meant so much to Cheryl and her family.
