Christopher Brett Brown, age 45, of Charlotte, NC passed away on the evening of Thursday, September 11, 2025. Christopher was born in Durham, NC to Chris Brown and the late Susan Hunter Brown. Christopher was a devoted husband to his wife, Heather, and a dedicated and loving father to his daughter Susan and stepdaughter Brooke.
Even though Christopher’s life was tragically cut short, he had a profound and positive impact on so many other lives. He was a beloved son, dependable brother, devoted husband, loving father and a true friend to so many people.
During his early life, Christopher was an avid athlete, playing numerous sports including baseball, basketball and football. Whether playing in an organized league or simply competing with his family and friends, Christopher loved having fun and competing. Christopher remained an avid sports fan for life, closely following his favorite teams and proudly winning multiple championships in various fantasy leagues. While in college, Christopher found a new arena for competition in the form of poker. With his competitive spirit and natural instincts, Christopher found early success. In his early 20’s, he moved to Las Vegas, NV to chase his goal of becoming a professional poker player. After a few years in Las Vegas, he moved back to North Carolina, where he continued to play professionally. He enjoyed many successes and persevered when the cards didn’t fall his way. He always wanted to be an example to his daughter, Susan, to never give up on your dreams.
In his late 20’s, Christopher met the love of his life, Heather. She made him the happiest man in the world when they got married and started a family. They had an amazing love story that only few experience and everyone hopes for. They were genuine soulmates and best friends, and Christopher loved Heather with all his heart. Throughout their marriage, they shared similar interests and values. They made each other laugh daily and comforted each other in times of stress.
Christopher was extremely proud of his 11-year-old daughter, Susan, and loved being her Dad. He cherished the time they had together, whether they were playing games, bonding over their love of spicy food or simply sitting together and watching TV. He was always forthright and honest with Susan, believing that it was important to teach her lessons about “real life” so she would be prepared to face the world. As he would frequently say, Susan was his “smart and beautiful girl”.
Christopher was often described as the rock of his family, and his friendships. While he, his family and friends were all pushed and pulled by many struggles in life, Christopher never wavered. He always leaned into the positive with endless hope and belief. Losing or giving up was never an option for him. Christopher was always the one to check-in on friends and family if he hadn’t spoken to them recently. He was always concerned for others and wanted to make sure everyone else was OK. He could carry on long conversations on many topics, with sports and politics being his favorites.
Christopher was preceded in death by his mother Susan Hunter Brown and his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Heather Brown; daughter, Susan Brown; stepdaughter, Brooke Nygren; father, Chris Brown; stepmother, Mary Jo Brown; brother, Steven Brown; sister, Stephanie Brown, father- and mother-in-law, Jim and Donna Kennedy; brother- and sister-in-law, Mike and Beth Kennedy; niece, Lina Brown; nephews, Clarke and Alex Kennedy; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
