Christopher Graeme Ions

Christopher Graeme Ions, 73, was born on June 9, 1949 in Harrogate, England and passed away at home, surrounded by love, on March 16, 2023. Chris studied Architecture at the University of Bath, graduating in 1971, and moved to the United States the following year. Chris had a storied architecture career, working for LS3P in Charlotte, North Carolina until he retired in 2019. Chris’s biggest adventure began in 1975 when he married Janet. Together they built a life, a home, and more than a lifetime’s worth of memories. Chris loved sitting in the sun, listening to the ocean and watching the birds at the beach. Chris was a golfer and member at Raintree Country Club, where he got a hole-in-one twice in his years of playing. Chris was one of a kind; brilliant, curious, interesting, wickedly funny, and kind-hearted. He was a true renaissance man. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and daughters, Michelle, Suzanne, and Danielle, as well as his grandchildren: Riley, Gavin, Rory, Caitlin, Joseph, and Sean. Chris had a lifelong love of birds.
