It is with great sadness that we share the news of the unexpected loss of our beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece and dear friend, Claire Elizabeth Lietz, 25, on March 26th, 2021. Claire was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School, Holy Trinity Middle School and Charlotte Catholic High School. Following graduation from high school, she finished a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health at The University of South Carolina and most recently attended Savannah College of Art and Design to pursue a graduate degree in Marketing.
Claire was a lover of art and music and she always focused on the value of relationships that she built with her close friends. We will never forget her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and empathetic character. She brought happiness and joy to so many people in her life. We love her dearly and her presence in our lives will be sorely missed, but never lost.
When you remember Claire, look back on the memories that bring you joy and peace. Hold those dearest to you close to your heart, and remember life is fragile and should be lived each day to the fullest. We must be present each day to never lose sight of what we hold most dear.
Claire is survived by her parents, Tim and Nancy Lietz; her brothers, Benton and Ryan; her grandparents, Andy and Donna Lietz and Carmen and Joanna Palermo; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends who will miss her always.
The Funeral Mass in celebration of Claire’s life will be held at 3:30 pm on Friday, April 16th, at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm until the time of Mass.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations can be made in Claire’s name to the Kiawah Island Conservancy www.kiawahislandconservancy.org) or Telfair Museum, Savannah GA (www.telfair.org).
“If I'm honest I know I would give it all back
For a chance to start over
And rewrite an ending or two
For the girl that I knew.
She is gone but she used to be mine.”
