

Born on November 6th, 1961 in Oklahoma City, OK to parents Clarence Edward May and Eleanor Neild May, Claire completed their family of two girls. Claire grew up in Raleigh, NC and graduated from Sanderson High school in 1980. Claire was passionate about dancing and singing from a very young age. While growing up she sang in the choir, cheered on her high school varsity cheerleading squad, and practiced ballet for many years. Claire moved to Charlotte, NC in 1984 where her two children were born, son Matthew on December 10th 1986, and daughter Nicole born on July 18th 1990. Claire was a fiercely devoted mother and a constant supporter to both her son and daughter. Claire made many sacrifices to give her children the best life possible. Claire’s biggest joy in life was being a mom, and her favorite moments were spending time with her children.
Claire had a long career in the financial services industry and held several positions during her time with Bank of America, including Associate Vice President. Claire had an adventurous spirit, and one of her greatest adventures was going skydiving, not once, but twice. Claire was also an avid fitness fanatic who taught aerobics classes while her children were young, and then throughout her work career waking up at the crack of dawn go to the gym every day before work. Claire’s outer beauty could only be surpassed by her inner beauty and the kindness, selflessness, and compassion she possessed.
Claire was predeceased by her mother, father and grandparents. She is survived by her son Matthew Edward Bruno, wife Molly Bruno, and granddaughter Leia Michael Bruno of Guilin, China; her daughter Nicole Alyssa Bruno and grand dog Cooper Bruno of Charlotte, NC; her sister Gayle May Moody, brother-in-law John “Brad” Moody; and nephew John “Bradley” Moody of Raleigh, NC.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Home, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends following the service.
