Mrs. Claire M. Roux of Charlotte, NC, 88, passed away on March 21, 2018. She was born on December 13, 1929 in Lowell, Massachusetts; a daughter of the late Lucien and Marie Milot and beloved wife of her late husband, Joseph Alexander Roux.
Claire moved to Charlotte, NC in 1972 with her husband Joseph where she raised her three sons, worked for JA Jones and faithfully served at St. Gabriel Catholic Church for 44 years. Claire was an incredibly gifted artist and singer. She served as the president of the Charlotte Art League and led worship music at St. Gabriel Church for many years. In her retirement years, she spent much of her time visiting the elderly bringing them communion, comfort and companionship. But most of all, she loved the Lord with all her heart and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who took great care of her family.
Claire is survived by her three sons and their wives: Russell and Tammi, Tony and Lynne and Peter and Terri. She has six grandchildren: Steven, Kevin, David, TJ, Robert, and Michelle. She also has six surviving sisters: Theresa, Cecile, Marie, Madeline, Lucille and Helene; and is pre-deceased by a brother and sister, Paul and Aurice.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, March 25, at Harry & Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, March 26, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. The family will also receive friends from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the mass at the church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
