Clara was born on October 28,1935 in Baltimore Maryland to Elijah and Bessie Powell. She married Raymond Carstens, her high school sweetheart.
Clara is survived by her 3 daughters Marie Taylor, Sharron Carstens and Karen Ledbetter and her son Shawn Carstens, her 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Carstens and her son Michael Carstens.
A celebration of Clara's life is scheduled for Tuesday August 29, 2017 at 2 pm at Forest Lawn West Cemetery 4601 Freedom Dr. Charlotte, NC 28208.
