

Clarice St. Martin Locke did not survive back surgery and died on August 6, 2014. She was born to Paul E. and Dora Hebert St. Martin on April 3, 1940 in Holden, MA. Married to John J. (Jack), she was educated at Trinity University (DC) and lived in West Hartford Connecticut before moving to Charlotte 1973.
After a 10-year career as a real estate broker, she volunteered with the Red Cross as a driver and then as an ombudsman appointed by Mecklenburg to visit assisted living homes. She was also an active participant in the local philanthropic group, Social Venture Partners. An avid bridge and tennis player, she was known for her exasperating backhand slice, and was a member of Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, sons Wayne (Ruth) of Scotts Valley, CA, Glenn (Lauri) of Hickory, daughter Francine of Mineral Springs, brother, Phillip St. Martin (Beth) of Matthews, and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 on Sunday, August 10 at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Services, 5301 Albemarle Road. A funeral service at Wilson will take place on Monday August 11, at 11 AM.
