A native of Claredon, NC, Mr. Ward was born to the late Samuel Hoyle Ward and Elizabeth Anna Ray Ward on October 17, 1923. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and retired as a mechanic with Ford Motor Company. Mr. Ward was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church and East Gate Masonic Lodge #692.
Mr. Ward is survived by his son, Scott Ward and wife Rose of Charlotte; daughter, Toni Szary of Charlotte; sister, Alma Anderson of Bolivia, NC; grandchildren, Heather Ashley Ward, Melissa Worley Yascavage; great-grandchildren, Caleb Stennett, Damion Yascavage and Mila Yascavage.
The funeral service will be held 11:00a.m., Wednesday, September 18 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Hickory Grove Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
