

Connie Miller, 52, of Charlotte, NC passed away on February 13, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family and closest friends.
She was born on December 29, 1959 in Topeka, KS, a daughter of Robert and Joan Smith Miller. After graduation from Kansas State University in 1981, she was offered and accepted a full scholarship to study law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. Upon graduation, she became partner in the zoning and land use firm of Mead & Miller for 3 years, until the firm was absorbed by Jenkens & Gilchrist. In 1989, she joined NationsBank of Texas as Asst. General Counsel, with responsibilities for environmental policies, OREO disposition, leasing, and workout. From 1992-1994, she worked for the bank’s subsidiary ARMRESCO in McLean, VA as a member of the workout team, covering the CS/Sovran acquisition before finally locating to Charlotte in 1994. From 1994 until the summer of 2006, Connie covered legal issues for Bank of America’s corporate real estate portfolio in Center City Charlotte and other markets. Her career with the bank included legal oversight of the development and leasing of many of the city’s signature properties including Gateway Village, Hearst Tower, Corporate Center, 7th Street Station, the Ritz-Carlton and others. From 2007 until 2009, she practiced real estate law with the firm of King & Spalding in Charlotte.
Connie is survived by her husband, Russ Winget and loving daughter, Hope, born in Charlotte in 1999. There was no greater love than that for her daughter and husband. The family enjoyed travel and adventure, summers by the pool and the 4th of July at the beach with friends and family. Survivors include her parents; her sister, Carolyn; brothers, John and Steven; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Providence United Methodist Church in Charlotte where she was a member. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial in Topeka, KS will be private.
Connie donated time and effort to the causes related to the fight to cure breast cancer including Komen Foundation.
