A native of Rutherford County, Dale was the son of the late Orlin Hein and Nelda Evonne Oelkers. Dale embraced life with warmth and good humor and his lighthearted jokes brought laughter to those around him. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his time there. His generous nature and passion for people allowed him to encourage, support and mentor many individuals in various stages of their lives and careers. While his children were young, he was involved in youth ministry and coached little league. As they grew, he shared with them his love of the outdoors, leading to many fun and memorable adventures. As a leader of people, he inspired many and was an advocate for all to achieve their potential. As a friend, he was always up for fun and often created opportunities for misadventures.
His firm faith guided him in all aspects of his life and shaped who he was as a father, a brother, a husband and a man.
He is an example to all of embracing life and all it has to offer. He will be forever in our hearts.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Thomasen Molon Oelkers; his son, Matthew Hein Oelkers and wife, Rebekah, grandchildren, Caroline and Wyatt of Cherryville,NC; and son, Brandon Dale Oelkers, and wife, Katie; grandchildren, Ryan and Alexandra of Huntsville, AL; and his sister, Kristal Oelkers of Rutherfordton, NC.
