Prayers and Blessings to All
I remember when Daphne kept foster children, half the neighborhood and some of her grandchildren in the mix, (she was my neighbor for years). She would take the children on walks and I remember thinking ‘a train of children’ following her and they all appeared to be happy and content. I’m sure those children will never forget the love she gave them, this world needs more People like Daphne. May she live on in everyone’s memory of her. Hugs

I know everyone that knew grandma could probably tell a hundred stories about the ways that she touched their lives. She loved us and sacrificed herself many times over to make sure we had everything we needed.
Grandma kept foster children for as long as I can remember, there were always kids running around her home. I used to stay with her when I was little every time I was sick, and as many of you know, that was quite often. When I would stay with grandma, she always made time to come check on me, even with all the kids in her home, somehow I felt like her number one priority when I was there.
One of my fondest memories was of the Sunday dinners we used to have at her house. She always fixed her signature dish of chicken and rice. My dad would always joke around when we walked in the door and he smelled the chicken, “Don’t tell me you made rice again. We eat more rice than the Chinese.” And grandma would always respond with a laugh and say, “Yeah Buddy!”
After my grandpa died in October of 1993, she stopped taking in foster kids and then she met a wonderful man who introduced her to karaoke. After that, it was a regular event for them to go to the karaoke bar two times a week or more. They were regulars and everyone there loved them. The other club members and staff even threw them birthday parties and celebrated them like family.
Grandma was the closest thing to an angel on earth that I have ever met. So when you feel the raindrops, see a leaf falling, watch a bird fly, smell the flowers blooming, eat chicken and rice, or hear a karaoke song, think of grandma. She is sending her messages to us letting us know that she is watching us and she will always be there for us.

To the Furr family,
You didn't live in the Ashley Park community without knowing the Furrs. And working families there with children usually had Mrs. Furr keep them at some point. I learned yesterday that she kept my niece and nephew for my sister.
Please accept my deepest sympathy during this difficult time.
While it's always difficult to lose a parent at any age or at any time, I hope you take consolation that Daphne passed on Good Friday, or Holy Friday. Like Jesus, she too rises to heaven for eternal life and where she'll enjoy great company and where she'll greet her family again when they someday go home, too.
