Darrell Sheldon Davis, 65, passed away on October 23, 2022. He was a resident of Asbury Skilled Nursing Facility at Aldersgate in Charlotte, NC. Darrell was born in Charlotte on December 14th, 1956. Darrell is survived by his mother, Geraldine Moser Lowder and his 2 sisters: Lynnette Lowder Knight and Tammy Lowder Naylor (husband Micheal). Darrell is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved stepfather, Arthur Paris Lowder, Jr and his brother, Wayne Alan Davis.
Darrell embraced the simple things in life: Football, Family and Food. He was a loyal fan of the Carolina Panthers. He would watch his Panthers play every Sunday along with his mom. Nightly calls to his siblings always began with him asking how everyone in their family was doing. He always asked about everyone else first before he told you about himself. Keeping up with everyone’s activities was very important to him, especially his nieces and nephews. He was the first to wish you a happy birthday and find out your plans for the weekend or for celebrating an upcoming holiday. And a birthday for him was only complete if there was a birthday cake. Darrell loved to visit with his parents and enjoyed riding his John Deere Gator to the pond while the family did a little fishing. Darrell’s biggest joy was finding out what was being served at everyone’s dinner table. His nightly phone calls to his family members always included the question “What did you have for dinner?”. Then he told you what he had to eat, which followed with a discussion on just who had the best meal that day. If you went to visit him, he always greeted you with a crooked little grin. Darrell had a gentle soul, a soft laugh, and a love for God.
We welcome everyone to join us for a visitation in remembrance of Darrell on Tuesday, November 1st from 1:00 – 3:00 at McEwen Funeral Home in Charlotte. And everyone is also welcome to his graveside service, which will follow at 3:00 immediately after the visitation. Darrell honorably served in the US Army. He will be laid to rest in the Veterans Garden of Honor at Sharon Memorial Park.
