Born January 20, 1948 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Elwood John Keightly and the late Maria Margaret Macfee. She graduated from Little Flower High School and later married. She and her husband were transferred to Charlotte in 1976. This is where she called home and where she lovingly raised her family.
Daryl was a lifelong member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. She was a devoted church goer and volunteer. Her family remembers her devout faith, especially her time acclimating and resettling a refugee family. She and her husband also took notice for beginning a foreign adoption support group in the area. A topic very close to her heart for both her children were adopted; her daughter was a foreign adoption.
The joy of her life was truly her family. She was a devoted mom who spent her life placing her children first. In true fashion, she dotingly continued to do the same with her five grandsons .
Daryl was a thoughtful, kind and loving person. She lived her life with grace enduring chronic ailments with very little complaint. She will be remembered most fondly as a truly wonderful mom, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Kelly, Jr. (Molly); her daughter, Shana Kelly Lynds (Jeff); and her beloved grandsons, Daniel Kelly, III, Thomas Kelly, James Kelly, Ethan Lynds and Sean Lynds; as well as her sister, Beverly Keightly; and her brother, Elwood Keightly (Joan).
A mass will be held in her honor at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Thursday, January 24th at 10am with a visitation beforehand beginning at 9am.
