I was saddened to read of David's death last December and I offer my condolences to his family and friends. We were in the Boy Scouts together and I have many fond memories of David and his older brother John. Their father was especially kind and considerate of me as I worked my way through the ranks of scouting with his two sons. I also lived just a few blocks from them, and remember the touch football games in front of their house on Saint Mark's Ave. as well as chess games in their living room.

I left Charlotte in my early teens and we lost touch. Thanks to the internet I was able to contact him several years ago via a Christmas card I sent. David's health and memory had begun to fail him but Peggy responded with a nice letter informing me of his illness and said he did remember me; something that please me greatly. The picture is one I took at summer camp on Lake Norman. David is standing second from the left and John is in front. A. Gibbs Mitchell

I will always have fond memories of Uncle David and our family gatherings while growing up. His love for Carolina and the Tar Heels was matched only by his loving devotion to his family. Our thoughts go out to the family during this special season as Uncle David will be sorely missed.
