

David was born in Meadville, PA on August 18th, 1959 to the late Ardine (Buck) Porfilio and Joyce Richards Porfilio. David graduated from MASH in 1978. After graduation he moved to Raleigh, NC where he spent two years. He then moved to Charlotte, where he built a life as a maintenance/handyman. There wasn't much he couldn't fix and often helped his friends, family, and neighbors with projects.
David is survived by his daughter, Amanda Algood (David); his grandchildren, Sloane and Klein Algood; his older brother, Richard Porfilio (Yvonne) of Harmonsburg, PA; and his little brother, Tony Porfilio (Cheryl) of Monroe, NC.
Dave enjoyed trips to the beach, live music (especially country music), spending time with friends and family, and cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by twin half brothers, Ronald and Richard Porfilio, and a half sister, Cheryl Anne Dove.
David was a daredevil who rode motorcycles his entire life. He pulled for the Steelers as well as the Panthers and loved to watch Tarheel basketball whenever they played. David was an animal lover and took his dog, Jersey Girl, with him almost everywhere he went. He also carried a harmonica everywhere he went, and was known to call friends and family and play them "Happy Birthday" every year.
The family will hold a service at his church, Moores Chapel on Saturday, January 24th, 2026 at 2 pm. The church is located at 10601 Moores Chapel Road in Charlotte, NC.
The family will receive friends and family afterwards at the Algood residence, all are welcome.
