Dean Matthew Elder, age 64, lifelong resident of Charlotte, passed away January 25, 2013. Born in Charlotte on July 26, 1948 he was the son of the late Herman Thomas and Mabel(Sowell) Elder, Sr. Mr. Elder graduated from Harding High School in Charlotte and later attended UNCC. He also served his country with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by 6 sisters; Gerrie Elder(Jennings Kendall), Sarah Elder and Inez Smith all of Charlotte, Frances McCumbee of Kings Mountain, Nancy Proffitt and Linda Paxton both of Charlotte: 2 brothers; H.T. Elder, Jr.(Nancy) of Charlotte and Vann Elder of Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and was predeceased by 2 brothers. Funeral Services and Entombment will be private.
