Deborah "Debby" Dobbins passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on June 1, 1952, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Debby was known for her outgoing, talented, lively, and compassionate nature. She spent her life in Charlotte, where she left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Debby’s passion for music began as a child, and during her high school years she began singing in bands. This love for music became her lifelong career. The last band she performed with was Smitty Flynn and the Rivieras, and she was recently honored by being inducted into the CBMA Hall of Fame. Her talents extended beyond performance, as she worked for Sound Source, helping to create karaoke music and earning respect as a sound-alike artist.
Beyond her musical achievements, Debby had a deep love for the Beatles, especially George Harrison. Her compassion extended to all animals, and she was known for feeding many homeless cats whenever she could. A horse named Prancer held a special place in her heart.
Debby is survived by her brother, Charles Dobbins, Jr. (Nancy), and her nieces and nephews: Tracy Barcott (Rye), Lindy Hues, Chris Rhodes (Jill), and Lindsey Hoeferlin (Karl). Her great-nieces and nephews, Charlotte Barcott, Sage Barcott, Elle Barcott, Andrew Tomberlin, Roman Hues, Rhyder Hues, Josie Rhodes, Lila Rhodes, Gabbi Rhodes, Jacob Taylor, Sophie Hoeferlin, and Blake Hoeferlin, will also cherish her memory. Additionally, her god-daughter, Emily Walters, and her beloved cat, Wizzy, survive her.
Debby was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Eugene Dobbins, Sr. and Betty Jean Hightower Dobbins. Her legacy of music, love for animals, and vibrant spirit will be remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
